(Not entirely sure how to go about this, but meh. I shall take a shot in ze dark.)
Garret slowly trotted through the valley, looking about. The place was very clam, peaceful, and fertile. There was little sound but for a distant waterfall and the chirping of birds. It seemed empty. So, as could be assumed, he would claim it.
He'd call the land Trust. For there there was but nature and those whom he would permit, those whom he trusted. As such, it was to be just as the name implies, a land of trust.
So, the Valley and the small area of the foot of the mountains which formed it, as well as the mountains themselves, were his. No challengers, were present, so it seemed the deed was done, the land was his.

Haunted Memory walked into the new land slowly, her head hanging low. She needed a new place to stay, the last herd had finally grow sick of her and kicked her out. Everyone reacted like that when they found out about her... differences. It didn't matter to them that she was just an innocent mare, homeless and friendless, but as soon as her abilities began reacting uncontrollably, they would let her stay no longer. What was the harm in a few accidents where it suddenly snowed or became pitch black? She hadn't hurt anyone... But she had come to realize that horses were selfish creatures, and couldn't be trusted...
When she saw the stallion standing proudly in his land, she turned her head away. "I'm sorry... I didn't know this land belonged to anyone. I'll leave now..."
(lol sorry bout the long intro paragraph, I didn't really put that much in her history... but yeah, she can't really control her abilities. and i thought it would be interesting to put a stallion who trust is extremely important to and a mare who doesn't trust anyone together. so, yeah...)

"You need not leave. You may remain here if you wish." Garret said, turning to face her. He had felt that she was depressed, but had probed no farther. Noting also the scars upon the Mare's body, he restated his previous statement.
"In fact, it seems that you have had some difficult times as of late. Please, I implore you to take rest here. This place is safe, and I gladly welcome you."
He realised this was slightly against his first principle, but the Mare seemed far too humble to hold any malicious intent. And, also, it seemed, the Mare was downtrodden, perhaps to the point that she didn't care for for self well-being. Though Garret cared about being able to trust those which he stayed with as a result of past experiences, he was still noble, and wouldn't turn this particular equestrian away.

Memory's expression turned pained, "Trust me, you don't want me here, I only seem to bring pain and misery to those around me..." She wanted to believe this stallion when he said it was safe for her, but nowhere was safe for her anymore. He would just become like all the other horses when he learned of her problems. Why had she been cursed like that? Now no one would accept her, and she had come to realize that it would always be that way.

"I assure you, I am not of the type to state that you may not be here on account of any abilites or directions of mind. You need not fear bigotry from me, I promise. You seem a Mare who seeks to be accepted and not feared or hated. Perhaps the word some would use is 'normal'. I Prefer the word 'bland'. You need only come across the right company to live happily, not be any specifiv way yourself. Allow me to attempt to provide you with such company, at least for a while." Garret said, turning fully to the Mare. He had the decency not to delve into the Mare's thoughts, as this would be highly impersonal and he could frankly come across things that the Mare would prefer never be come across. But he could well enough judge that she felt hated for something, and considering that there were no obvious signs, he figured it had something to do with her abilities.

Memory locked her eyes on the stallion. Could she really trust him? Part of her screamed inside her head; told her to run from this land, that she could never stay close to another horse. Next time she was betrayed, she was sure it would kill her. How many times had some one tried to kill her already? But she was too tired to think; so she forced a smile, "Thank you, I'll rest here tonight. But tonight is as long as I will stay."

"A night is a night. However, without intention to sound pervasive, we'll see how you feel in the morning. At the moment, however, you are open to rest, eat, drink, fulfill any needs you have wherever you wish to do so." Garret said, smiling in response, though only for a second or so, so as not to seem strange.

Memory couldn't explain the feeling she was having now, it was as if her body was tearing itself apart trying to decide what to do. The untrusting part of her won the battle, and without realizing what she was doing, she began to remember every time she had been betrayed. She started shaking with hatred, and she squeezed her eyes shut. The air around her reacted to her anger, and began growing hotter and hotter. She tucked her head, "Why? Every time I feel like I can trust someone, they always betray me! Why was I born like this?" The light from the sun started taking on a reddish hue, until the land seemed to take on the appearance of a volcano. Then the light darkened, and she glared hatefully around her, not truly seeing what was there. She was lost to the world completely, unaware of what was happening around her. She took a fearful step back, staring horrified at an unseen enemy. Then she lost all control, "LEAVE ME ALONE!" she roared, rearing on her hind legs.
(wow, she has a lot of problems, kinda like me... not really, but shes like bipolar and schizophrenic, and shes got like post traumatic stress or something... not to mention anger and abandonment issues)

Rather than being horrified as many would, Garret walked calmly to the Mare, intent on trying to help the fellow equestrian. He stood calmly before her.
"You must calm yourself. I swear upon my own life you have nothing to fear. Whatever and whoever hurt you in the past cannot hurt you here. I swear as well that you will not be in danger from me."
He said, calm and reassuring, as he metally told her subconcious to calm, and pulled an image of where she actually was to the front of her mind.
(I might have just helped or epically failed, I don't know. I was honestly completely unsure of how to react lol)

Memory watched with horrified eyes as a dark stallion stepped over the dead bodies of her parents, walking slowly towards her. "You thought I wouldn't find out who you were? You can't hide anything from me." She took another step back, her eyes locked on his icy glare. She could see why he wanted to kill her, but why her parents? She could feel the wind picking up, the beginning of a storm. She vaguely knew that it was because of her, but she didn't know why. She knew nothing about anything like that, or why this stallion hated her so much. His icy stare burned it's way into her nightmares permanently.
Suddenly she was brought back to reality by a probing presence in her mind. Her eyes widened with fear; somebody was searching for something in her head. The wind started speeding up, its icy breath cooling the heat. The wind grew faster and faster as she backed away from the stallion in the present, the one she could feel in her head. She could not separate reality from her memories anymore, and she stared at the stallion, seeing the same creature that killed her parents. The rain beat down relentlessly as the wind formed into a powerful storm behind her.
(lol, pulling her memories to the front of her mind wasn't the best move, now instead of remembering them shes actually seeing them... she really does have issues lol)

(Knew it, epically failed lol)
Garret felt a shift in her mind, and immediately pulled out. He had caught the jist of the memory on the way out, though, and had found what she now thought. He stayed where he stood, knowing that moving toward the Mare would only further upset her.
"I appologize for what I did, I was merely trying to help, trying to earn you rest from your memories. I promise to you, that I have never, and will never, hurt you. I understand now if you want to leave, but I wish only to help. Please let me!" He called, over the wind, as his gaze met hers. It could be seen in his eyes that he meant what he said, though at that point it may not matter.

Staring into the bloodstained face of her nightmares, she heard a distant voice calling her. She saw a glimpse of a face that meant no harm, that's eyes were kindly welcoming her. But wherever it was, she couldn't reach it. In the background, the wind had intensified into a giant funnel, threatening to devour everything in it's path, including her. She felt the wind pulling on her, not being able to stop it. What had she done?

Garret's eyes widened, and he thought for a second before racing over to Memory, and trying to push her along, away from the varitable tornada she had created. "Either we both die, or niether of us die. Not matter what happens, I will not leave you." He groaned, both from the effot of remaining standing, and from the effort of trying to push the Mare away. He knew that they also had to stop the wind, but his priority was trying to keep the Mare alive.
(Isn't he just so noble? lol)

When she saw the stallion put himself in danger's way for her sake, something in her changed. The swirling storm of emotions ceased, and one was left to dominate. That feeling was this: she didn't want another creature to suffer because of her, like her parents had. Her sudden change of heart halted the storm in it's tracks, and as soon as it had appeared, it began dissipating. When it was gone, all that remained was the shining sun and the blue sky, reflecting her new found purpose. Even if those she came across hated her, there was still some good in the world, and that was worth protecting. That was all she needed to keep on living. She smiled for the first time since her parents died, and collapsed to the ground from exhaustion. As her vision faded to black, a faint cry could be heard in the wind: "Thank you..."
(just in case that could be interpreted wrong, shes not dead, she just passed out... yeah... and i know that was kinda sudden for her to realize she needed to turn her whole life around, but it was all i could think of lol)

Garret sank to the ground as well, but managed to remain concious. He looked around. The destruction was notable, but that didn't matter. They were still alive, at least. And he felt he had helped the Mare, as well. He himself needed sleep, but he made the choice to stay awake and watch over her in her sleep, so as to be sure that no creature should see fit to bother the Mare. A bit of sleep was something she likely desperately needed, after that.
He stood. Then a thought occured to him. I really do need to find out what her name is. But that, of course, can wait until she awakens.
