"Reason? Why would I need that?" the Akuma said sarcastically.
Kanda glared his foe down. "That's the thing with Akuma. They're made to kill, and that's all they know how to do. They kill and kill, until no one's left... That's why I have to destroy them."
Kanda lunged at the Akuma and swung his sword, but the demon was too quick for him. It leapt neatly into the air and landed next to Analie. "If I killed this girl now," it said darkly, "What would you do?"

Analie froze, her eyes closed as she tried to concentrate, blocking out only the Akuma's voice as she focused on gathering what little energy she had... if the akuma even tried to touch her, the water vapor in the air would freeze its entire arm... Analie just had to hope it wouldn't try anything... the best she could do right now was simply freeze maybe one or two of it's limbs before she would pass out from exhaustion and over using her power...

Kanda's face tensed and he clenched his teeth. "Don't-" he started, but immediately froze. "What makes you think I care what you do to her?" he said in a cold, monotone voice.
"Oh, really?" the Akuma replied. "Aren't you cold? Since you don't care, I'll take her out of the picture for you."
Kanda inched toward the Akuma slowly. "She's so weak right now, it would be child's play for you to kill her. But me, on the other hand, I won't be so easy."
"What are you getting at?" the Akuma said, showing little interest.
"What I'm saying is you should prove your strength first by fighting me."
The Akuma broke out into sudden laughter. "You're full of yourself! You'll be no challenge for me to kill. I'll deal with you after I've had my fun with her." But Kanda was close enough. He lunged at the Akuma and stabbed his sword into its shoulder. The Akuma stumbled backwards, "You bastard." Then Kanda placed himself between it and Analie. "I told you to fight me first," he said icily.

Analie opened her eyes as she watched both the Akuma and Kanda face off it seemed... She probably would have been fine with freezing two of the akuma's limbs. Then again she never knew exactly just how strong these Akuma were.. So maybe it wasn't such a bad thing that Kanda was 'helping her'. She wasn't sure what to call it but either way she just knew that she couldn't exactly be sure if he was doing it to help her, of if he was doing it just for himself...

Kanda positioned himself in a fighting stance, and started at the Akuma once more. He swung his first blade, but the Akuma ducked and landed a kick square in his chest. Kanda was sent flying backwards towards Analie. Before he could crash into her, he struck the ground with his sword to push himself into the air. He flew over her head and through a tree behind her. The tree snapped and he fell to the ground. He staggered to his feet and charged at the Akuma again, only to be sent into a rock. "Give it up," the Akuma laughed, "You can't beat me." "Shut up!" Kanda yelled, and attacked again. The Akuma knocked him into the air and then launched itself above him, then kicked him back into the dirt. Kanda struggled to his feet, but then collapsed. "Damn it..."

Analie watched as Kanda dealt with the Akuma but when it made that last hit on him.... she furrowed her eyebrows before once again swiftly concentration. She focused on the Akuma's right arm and leg, before ice suddenly formed on then entirety of the limbs, covering them fully with heavy ice, hopefully unbalancing it somewhat to give Kanda an extra bit of help. Of course since she was also low on energy, Anale's eyes slid shut as darkness over took her sight, as she slipped into unconciousness. Her body forcing her to rest so she could regain the energy she needed...

Kanda raised his head from the dirt, "Third Illusion." He struck the Akuma before it had even noticed him, and sliced it in half. Then he crushed the head with his foot to be sure it was dead. You could never take any chances with Akuma.
After the creature was defeated, Kanda wanted to collapse and go to sleep... But he knew that wasn't an option. He limped over to where Analie lay on the ground and lifted her over his shoulder. Then he started back in the direction of the town. He remembered where the hospital was, he should be able to find it...
Soon he had entered the town. He quickly turned down the road that the hospital was on, his breath growing ragged from the strain on his body. When he entered the door, the doctors took one look at him and led him to a room wordlessly. Then he laid Analie on the bed and collapsed on the floor.

Analie felt odd, she knew her body was unconcious but then again it almost seemed as if she was in her mind.... She wasn't really sure what exactly was going on... just that she knew her surroundings were different, and that she knew from the position her body was in and how she felt oddly at comfort. Now she just had to wait a day or two for her energy levels to replenish... and that was always the rough part because she always felt strangely detached whenever it happened....

The next morning, Kanda opened his eyes slowly and crawled to his feet. His whole body was sore and throbbing, partly from sleeping on the floor, but mostly from his wounds... He had no idea how serious they were, and decided he should check with a doctor. He walked out of the room and approached one of the doctors. The doctor noticed him and smiled, "You're the one who brought her in, right? Are you her boyfriend or something?"
Kanda's looked at him with surprise, but quickly regained his composure and glared at him, "No, I just met her recently."
"Oh, I could've sworn, with the way you held her... Anyway, what did you need?"
"I just wanted someone to check my wounds."
"I can do that, follow me." The doctor led him into an adjacent room. Kanda sat on the bed and pulled his shirt off. Scars from the Akuma burned across his chest. The doctor blinked, "When did you say you were wounded?" "Yesterday."
The doctor checked him over quickly, "Well, the flesh wounds seem healed well enough, the problem lies in your bones. Several of them were badly broken, and they healed the wrong way... What did you do anyway, get crushed under a building?"
"That's none of your business," Kanda said crossly.
"Okay, sorry... Just hold still for a moment." Kanda clenched his teeth as one by one his bones were rebroken, his arm, several of his ribs, his ankle, his shoulder, and most painfully, his femur. Then the doctor casted them before Kanda could protest. "I don't care how unnaturally quickly you heal, if they're not casted they'll wind up the same way they just were."
After Kanda was finished, he limped back into Analie's room. Then he sat down next to her bed and watched her. It was as if he stopped thinking and acted purely on compulsion; he touched her cheek gently with his hand and whispered softly, "thank you."
(sorry its so long...)

If Analie had been awake by now, she probably would ahve been stunned by what Kanda had just done... He was ...Thanking her? For what exactly did he want to thank her.. As much as she wanted to speak out loud and ask him why he was thanking her, she was confused... With how Kanda had first acted, he seemed he would never even second glance her in a fight, almost as if she was unimportant. And now not even a day later he was thanking her, if only she could figure that out maybe she'd not be trying to frantically find out the answer in her head....
One more day.... she could feel it... just one more day adn her body would finally allow her to awake from her sleep.. it was a good thing she hadn't worked herself into a week sleep or else the Doctors might confuse that with her being in a coma which was totally overdoing it...

Kanda gave a tired sigh. He wanted to sleep, but something was preventing him from leaving the room. Then he heard a sound behind him and turned his head. It was the doctor.
"I thought you might wanna sleep in here," the doctor said as he brought in a rollable bed. He pushed it up a few feet away from Analie's then turned to leave. "Okay, you two, have fun. But remember, we're in a hospital, so keep it appropriate."
"What's that supposed to mean?!"
The doctor said nothing and continued out the door, a playful grin on his face.
Kanda turned away from the door and let his closed expression melt from his face. "Is it really that obvious...?" he whispered to himself. Then his emotionless mask was replaced, and he lay down on the bed to drift off into sleep.

Sometime during the ngiht, Analie's eyes silently fluttered open. Truthfully she made no movement, nor did she do anything that would alert Kanda that she was awake.. He needed the sleep.... 'What exactly was it that had made him say thank you though??? Is there something going on in his mind that maybe my actions had caused or changed.' Her thoughts ran along those lines as she thought more on the subject, never really sure just what she should do about anything... more than likely she knew more people would be out to kill her but that was normal for her, seeing as that'd been happening ever since she was fourteen or soo....

Kanda instantly heard the change in Analie's breathing pattern. So she was awake... He rolled over to face away from her. Why had he noticed that? He hadn't even noticed that he had been listening to her breathing... Without even realizing it he had grown used to having her near him.

Analie stayed as quiet as she possibly could, she turned to look outside the window, at the starry night sky and inwardly wished she was still back where she was born, in her home town. On a night like this, if the weather was nice and beautiful, she would have been out at a hidden pond she had found. Watching as the stars twinkled and reflected with the moon on the still water. Only a few times would a fish come for air... it was her favortie place to go to, especially if she needed to clam down. A few willow trees were huddled on one side of the pond and she had always loved going there. Just thinking about that place calmed her extremely as she silently lay there listening to what seemed like nothing..

Eventually sleep found Kanda, but it was a fitful, shallow sleep. He didn't want to close his eyes; he was afraid of what might happen while he was sleeping. He wanted Analie to wake up so that she wouldn't be so defenseless, but he also wanted her to rest enough so that she would recover. His thoughts were completely jumbled and his mind raced as he lay waiting for morning. When he did sleep, his dreams were full of terrifying images; burning cities and dying people, Akuma laughing as they slew everyone in sight. Then he saw a familiar face, a girl he knew long ago, covered in blood. Just before his own death approached him, he woke. The light filtered in through the window, forcing him to squint against the glare. So it was morning... He was covered in sweat from his dreams, and he wiped his forehead with the back of his hand. Why wouldn't the dreams stop haunting him, even after he left the Order?
