Personality - Because of the demon inside of him, Relapse is feared and hated by his entire herd. This in turn has made Relapse hate everybody but himself. Relapse had lost all emotion 4 years ago and filled the gap with the unrelenting goal of fighting anybody in the world that was not himself. To Relapse, fighting is the only way he can verify his existence. His insomnia, forced upon him by the fact that the demon inside him would eat away at his personality if he were to fall asleep, made his personality further unstable.
History - Relapse was raised mainly by his uncle, Yoshi. For 3 years, Relapse, being feared by his mother, his father and the other horses, believed Yoshi was the only one who loved him. However, when Relapse was a few weeks old, Yoshi was ordered to assassinate Relapse by Relapse’s father, Blaze. However, Relapse killed the assassin before he knew the assassin was in fact Yoshi. Before he died, Yoshi revealed to Relapse that he never did love him. In fact, Yoshi always resented Relapse for taking away the life of his beloved sister and Relapse’s mother, Katey. Relapse's mother had resented the herd for using her and her son as a sacrifice for a weapon, and wished that Relapse would live, for nothing else but to curse the herd that had created him. After realizing nobody loved him, Relapse used his sand to create the tattoo on his forehead, ("love"), as a symbol of a "demon loving only himself.". Now he roams the land to seek out a place where he is away from anybody who cowers in fear from him.
