Roxa
"Pain!! Pain!!!" I shreiked. "I am not the pain, I am not the one who is following somebody round like a guard dog, I don't want or need you" I glared at him. "What is this curse, who are you"
I stared down at him as he slumped against the tree not feeling sympathy. Only hatred, hatred that bubbled up inside me like lava. I turned and glared at the ground leaning against the tree.

Mamoru's eyes narrowed, "Like I said, I don't have a choice! You just had to bug me when I was minding my own business! If you had just stayed away, none of this would have happened, and I'd still be free..." Momentary sadness crept into his eyes, but he quickly covered it up. He could not let this person see his weakness. "I don't expect you to understand, but at least know this. Now, I will always be near you until I die. There is nothing either you or I can do about that."
Mamoru scowled, "Jeez, and here I was hoping the one I'd have to protect would be a beautiful princess, who was fair and kind, and loved everyone. Instead I get you, the opposite of all that." Of course he was not serious, he had truly hoped he would never find the one he'd have to protect, but she was the complete opposite of what he'd expected.

Roxa I sighed trying to calm myself into a reasonably calm fasion. It didn't work. I opened my mouth, closed it, opened it again and then closed it apparently having lost the ability to talk. Then I sighed put my hands up in surrender and walked as far away as I could get without him losing sight of me. I would just have to pretend he wasn't there. It wasn't easy though. I could feel his eyes resting on me, waiting for a sign of danger. I rolled my eyes and lay on my back. As I could only see out of one eye I constantly turned my head in one direction to make sure that we were out of danger. But other than that, I was completely still. My red hair was mattered and dirty and I wanted to find a river somewhere to wash. I closed my eyes and drifted into an uneasy sleep. (Er Dark, something has to happen soon, we can't keep rambling on about where there going and never get there lol XD. Maybe spice things up in ur next post! )

Mamoru watched her quietly, keeping on constant alert for danger. Why did she even need protection? She seemed to be plenty strong enough. There had to be some reason...
Fatigue seemed to be washing over him, and he had to fight to stay awake. Finally he succumbed to it; he leaned his head against the bark and kept one eye open and trained on the girl as the rest of his body fell into a light sleep. (Yes it is possible to sleep with one eye open)
In the depth of his sleeping mind, he saw a dark, blurry figure. A hateful voice rang out, "I'm coming for you... Roxa." Roxa? Who's that? he thought. Slowly the figure came into focus. Then the figure changed into the girl he was meant to protect. She was younger, much younger, and looked innocent and scared. He wanted to reach out to her, to help her, but she was too far away. Maybe the man before was talking about her...

Roxa
It was unusual for me to dream. Usually I saw strange flashes of brilliant lights. But this time a figure swum before my eyes. As he came into focus my heart lurched though I couldn't wake. He began to revolve slowly on the spot, his sightless eyes boring into mine, his face sunken and drooped. "I'm coming, I will find you" He said in a dark, rasping voice.
With a scream I awoke. I lunged for my sword but froze as I realised that I was still in the clearing. I closed my eyes breathing heavily staring up at the cold, dark sky. It had been real, I had never seen anything that looked more real...
I sat up. I was sweating and freezing. My powers didn't seem to be protecting me as much. Was it shock. I rested my head in my arms and rocked slowly back and forth my heart still pounding ever so fast...

As soon as the girl moved, Mamoru was on his feet with his weapon drawn. His eyes scanned the area for any threat, finding none, he allowed himself to relax. His gaze fell upon the girl once more. She looked so scared, almost like she had in his dream. He wanted to go to her, to touch her shoulder softly to let her know he was there, but he stopped himself. That would bring about nothing good, she hated him, after all.
He reluctantly sat back against the tree and waited for her to move, to say anything. He wanted her to do something, anything to confirm that she was okay. Anything to feel that she was still there... What was he thinking? He didn't care what mental state she was in, that wasn't part of the curse. He wasn't there to babysit her or comfort her, only to protect her from physical harm. That was all. Yet when he closed his eyes, all he could see was her terrified face, and it pained him more than anything.

Roxa
As I rocked back and forth, the image of the same horrible face came before my eyes. I stared into his eyes and suddenly recognized who it was. With a jolt my eyes snapped open. I should have recognized that face in my dreams. The face that had laughed mercilessly as my mother and father were slaughtered at its hands. I shuddered and then looked over towards the blonde haired boy. I felt a tug at my heart. He had something to do with this. I knew it.
A sudden inspiration hit me and I leaped to my feet grabbing the compass and running to pick up my sword. I walked over towards the boy my eyes shooting round everywhere my long hair flying out behind me. “The thing you want most is to protect me right?” I said quickly. I thrust the compass into his hands and flicked it open. “Which way does it point?” My eyes were wide. If I was correct it would point away from where the killers were coming from. Supposing they were coming, because that would be what he wanted most in the world.
On the other hand, it could possibly point to me, which would indeed be flattering, but extremely annoying and frustrating. And even worse possibility would be that it pointed towards the people that were after me, because I supposed, he would want to kill them. And I had no way of knowing. I stared dejectedly around me then looked back at the boy with large, frightened purple eyes, underneath the haze of panic there was spirit and determination, the things I needed most right now.
"I... I'm Roxa"

"I know..." Mamoru murmured in response to her question. Yes, he had learned her name through his dream. "Ironically, my name is Mamoru..." His voice was low and hesitant. Had his parents known his fate when they named him? He doubted it.
Mamoru held the compass gingerly as he stared at it.The hand swiveled around quickly, finally resting to point away from him. He looked up to see it was pointing at Roxa. "What?" He blushed and rose to his feet suddenly, then walked a few yards away. To his relief, it was still pointing in the same direction, which was now away from her. He sighed in relief, "Okay..."
Then the dial began to jerk back and forth, then turned to point in the opposite direction. It was pointing back at her... Mamoru stared at it with an annoyed expression, "I think this thing is broken..." He took a few steps to the right. The dial still turned between the two directions, now both pointing off into the woods somewhere. His eyes searched it earnestly, confused at what it was doing. The hand kept repeating this, never staying at one spot. "I- I don't get it..."
His eyes seemed to bore through the object he was holding as he searched his mind. Of course. He wanted to get Roxa away from the man who had caused her pain, but he also couldn't forgive the man... But which direction was away from them, and which was toward them? He had no way of knowing.

Roxa
A cruel smile slid across my beautiful face making it suddenly cunning and tricky. “Why Mamoru, you do not know what you want?” I chuckled and snatched the compass from his hands glaring down at it. Then I shook it harshly. The dial twirled and pointed at Mamoru. I stomped my foot and pointed into a clearing in the trees. “That way” I said stubbornly. I wandered what I would say if he asked how I knew. Reasoned argument I supposed with a chuckle.
I put my hand on the top of my sword and marched through the trees. I closed my eyes and thought. Away from danger, away from danger I opened my eyes hopefully and looked around. Straight ahead on the ground, was a pale piece of purple ground. I waited for Mamoru to catch up and then headed towards that place.

Mamoru followed after her, his mind preoccupied. Something wasn't right... The curse shouldn't affect him emotionally or mentally, yet it seemed like it had. It was a disturbing thought, and he pushed it from his mind. He felt his hand naturally straying to his scythe as he felt the thick tension in the air. They may be running from the people after her, or so they hoped, but that didn't change the fact that they would have to face them sooner or later. But he wasn't scared for his own life, he was scared for Roxa's.
